the curious yogi
workshop series —
some things need more than a regular class 90 minutes in person. 10 people. unlimited online support. Most yoga classes move quickly.
There is a lot to cover and not much time to go deep on the things that actually change your practice.
Each edition takes one topic — and gives it the space, the drilling, and the individual attention it deserves.
You leave knowing more than you arrived with. Every time.
And days later, when you’re post workshop motivation is buzzing, enjoy access to additional skills, drills, warm-ups and flows to help you keep progressing even outside the workshop.

inversion series
Workshop 1 / Headstands
Headstand is the foundation of the series — and the inversion most people have been attempting in regular classes without ever quite getting there. This session covers the forearm base, dolphin drills, core activation, and a fully spotted kick-up at the wall. You will understand exactly why headstand works and what your body needs to hold it safely.
You do not need to have done a headstand before. You need to be willing to try.
Wednesday April 22nd 6:30-8:00pm
Workshop 2 / Forearm Stand
Forearm balance looks like headstand but demands more from your shoulders and more precision in your alignment. This session builds directly on Workshop 1 — the dolphin series goes deeper, the block alignment drill solves the most common error in the shape, and every participant gets spotted through their kick-up at the wall. Intermediate participants begin to explore balance away from the wall.
Wednesday April 29th 6:30-8:00pm
Workshop 3 / Handstands
Handstand is the most physically demanding inversion in the series — and the most satisfying when it lands. This session covers wrist loading, straight-arm mechanics, the L-shape prerequisite drill, and a fully spotted kick-up at the wall. We do not rush to the kick-up. We earn it.
Wednesday May 6th 6:30-8:00pm
Workshop 4 / Integration
The final session is less about learning and more about owning what you have built. All three inversions flow through a single sequence. Partner spotting is introduced so you can keep practising at home. And you leave with a personal practice plan — one inversion, one drill, one commitment to what comes next.

your progress assisted on demandLike everything we’ve built here at Roam, an experience is nice. A creative flow is fun. But progress…that’s what we’re about. We understand that progress does just come from a one-off class (or workshop in this case). So we’ve built on demand support, so you can continue to progress from anywhere, any time you want.
before you arrive
Sessions run 90 minutes and are capped at 10 participants — deliberately. The small room means individual attention throughout, not just a class with inversions in it.
Wear what you would normally train in. Bare feet or grip socks work best. Mats, blocks, and straps are all provided — just bring yourself.
Doors open 10 minutes before the session starts. We move as a group from the beginning so please do not arrive late.
Every session ends with a Solana Rituals fire tonic.
Stick around after — some of the best conversations happen when everyone is still catching their breath.
Frequently Asked Questions
-
No. You need a baseline level of fitness and a willingness to try things that feel unfamiliar. If you can hold a plank and get up and down from the floor comfortably, you are ready.
-
Yes — that is exactly who this series is for. Workshop 1 is designed for people coming in with no inversion experience. Every session has a beginner path and an intermediate path running simultaneously.
-
No. Each workshop stands alone and you can book just the sessions that interest you. That said, the series is designed as a progression — the strength and understanding you build in each workshop directly improves the next one.
-
Heck yes! We’d love to have you part of our community, even if only for workshops!
-
Get in touch before you book. Some injuries are fine to work around, others mean inversions are not appropriate right now. I would rather have that conversation before you are in the room than on the day.
-
Ten. That is the maximum and it does not change. The small group size is what makes the individual spotting and real progression possible. It also gives us plenty of space to work on the wall and around each other without fear of knocking someone ;)
-
Right here at the studio. Roam Movement Studio is on Hurstmere Road in Takapuna, Auckland. A short walk from Takapuna Beach and the centre of all the best post workshop bites…or icecream :)

After the workshop, you’ll receive a link with unlimited access to our on-demand course library to continue your journey to invert.
